HERE is a multimedia project incorporating film,
performance, installation, drawing, painting, and sculpture.
It is a collaboration between 12 international and
New York-based artists, one architect, and three curators.
In a former retail space in the South Street Seaport, the artists,
architect, and curators will explore the communal organization
of the space and the interactive possibilities of the creative
process. Artist residency, exhibition, and architectural
intervention will merge.
The inspiration for HERE is the concept of energy as
agent in the individual and collaborative artistic creativity.
On this intangible level of communication, the theme of shadows
emerges, suggesting the reappearance of memories,
and imprints from the past. In this frame, the space becomes
the protagonist, allowing the transformation of energies and
shadows into artwork.
HERE is the first chapter of HERENOWTHEN,
a series of three exhibitions in Manhattan.
